Instagram Shops in 2026 is a discovery surface, not a checkout, Meta phased out native in-app payment in 2025. Storefront, catalogue and product tags still work; tapping through now sends shoppers to your own website. No setup fee or transaction commission from Instagram itself; payment processor fees apply on your end. POD plugs in via your Shopify (or other) store, with the catalogue feed pushed to Instagram. The trade-off: discovery without the checkout-friction reduction native Shops once offered.
